En Plein Air
I regularly take my sketchbook with me to places to draw. Sometimes I go to the dunes in the area where I grew up, or to other places of nature. Often I make sketches when I am on vacation.
The drawings function as artworks themselves and are often an inspiration for paintings. They can be literal translations of the drawings, or a more free interpretation, or even a totally new image.
On this page some impressions of me painting or drawing en plein air and some artworks. They show an insight in outdoor projects.
The Island Terschelling
Paris, Place de la Concorde
Avignon, Palais des Papes
Paris, near Place de la Concorde

’t Gooimeer in Huizen
On the left a free interpretation of a series of sketches of this view of the Gooimeer. In this stadium the sketches are no longer directly there, but the inspiration is translated into an autonomous painting.
Ermelo: Ink with reed pen

Frankfurt
I made several sketches of different views in the city of Frankfurt.
In my art studio I elaborated on the sketches and made a number of ink drawings and drawings with ecoline. From quite literal to more abstracted.

This drawing that I made in my art studio, is adapted from drawings I made at the location of the park.
